Pittsboro, NC - The Chatham County Council on Aging is in need of volunteers to deliver meals to homebound older adults. They currently have openings for delivery drivers in Pittsboro and Siler City.

This would involve picking up between five and twelve meals at the pick-up location (depending on how many are currently on the route), and delivering them to homebound older adults in need of a meal and a brief friendly visit. The meal routes take about one hour total once you pick up your meals.

Training is provided when you first become a delivery volunteer and the Council also holds quality assurance trainings/meetings once or twice a year.

The meal pick-up locations are:

Western Chatham Senior Center in Siler City
112 Village Lake Drive
Siler City, NC 27344
Phone 742-3975

Council on Aging Senior Center in Pittsboro
365 NC Hwy 87 N.
Pittsboro, NC 27312
Phone 542-4512

The Council on Aging also have Drop-off/Pick-up Locations in Goldston and Bennett and are always in need of substitutes for each of their nine meal routes.

If you have an interest in joining our team of dedicated volunteers, please contact the volunteer coordinator, Evelyn White at the Council on Aging at 919-542-4512.
