Man drowns in Jordan Lake Saturday

A Randolph County man drowned in Jordan Lake while fishing near Martha's Chapel and Farrington roads on Saturday, according to the Chatham County Sheriff's Office.

The victim was described as a 59-year-old white man from Ramseur in Randolph County, but the sheriff's office said it was not releasing the man's name until his family could be notified.

The man drowned around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the sheriff's office, and the incident was being treated as an accident.

The man's body was taken to the N.C. Medical Examiner's office in Chapel Hill.
