Siler City, NC - Magic with a message kicks off "Third Sundays @ Rocky River," a new monthly series offering an evening of entertainment that also builds faith and fellowship.

Magician Gary Blankenship brings his popular magic show to Rocky River Baptist Church on Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. Blankenship has dazzled audiences throughout the region with illusion, appearing before school groups, community organizations and general audiences.

At "Third Sundays @ Rocky River," the magician will use his expertise both to entertain as well as provide some insight and a few lessons of faith.

The magic show - and all others in the series - are open to the public.

"This is not something we're doing for this church alone," said Pastor Greg Burriss. "We started talking originally about finding musical groups, speakers and other exceptional people, like Gary, who could help our families enjoy a fun and meaningful evening.

"But, we're deeply involved in the community and it would be great if "third sundays" could bring all sorts of people together. Absolutely, the entire community is welcome."

Burriss says the series will be held throughout the year, with a brief hiatus during some summer months and in December, and the next few events should be announced soon. The latest information will be available on the Web.

Rocky River Baptist Church meets at 4436 Siler City-Snow Camp Road, about three miles north of Siler City. Directions and other information about the church is available at rockyriverbaptist.org.
