Pittsboro, NC - The Chatham County Public Library is providing young readers a great way to have fun and express their creativity through activities and events offered through the three libraries. The theme is “Be Creative @ Your Library,” a summer series that will encourage kids to explore the worlds of music, dance, art, books, and more.

The 2009 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with programs, prize drawings, story hours, a reading camp, and more. Families are invited to join the Family Express and Story Time Sessions portion of the program.

Registration for the Summer Reading Program, CAMP READ, begins in July. Each branch will register 50 participants on a first come first serve basis.

PERFORMANCE SERIES: A very special series of children’s performances has been added to the list of creative activities sponsored by libraries this summer. Four performances in the Chatham Children’s Summer Theater Series will be presented thanks to the generous support from The Chatham Mills Center, The Friends of the Pittsboro & Goldston Libraries, The Women of Fearrington and Fearrington Ladies Arts & Crafts Club.

Introduce your child to the world of theatrical arts this summer with these great performances, which all begin promptly at 11 am at the Chatham Mills Center in Pittsboro.
