Pittsboro Relay for Life seeks volunteers
[Nov. 24, 2007] The planning is about to begin for the 7th Annual Pittsboro Relay For Life to be held May 16th and 17th at Northwood High School. For the 3rd year in a row Chatham County has been #1 in the nation in per capita money raised for population category 50,000-59,999. American Red Cross responds to tragic fire in Siler city
[Nov. 14, 2007] The Orange County and Triangle Area Red Cross Chapters responded to the tragic fire at Brook Wood Apartments located in Siler City on Monday, November 5, 2007, providing emergency assistance in the form of food, new clothing, counseling and shelter for those affected. Members of the community who wish to help can make a tax-deductible donation to the American Red Cross.

Three Pittsboro teens killed in wreck
[Nov. 4, 2007] Three teens died Sunday when their car veered out of control and struck a rock and trees in Pittsboro. The crash happened shortly after 11 a.m. on Fire Tower Road, about a half-mile north of Pittsboro.

CORA Food Pantry moves to new quarters
[Sep. 25, 2007] The Chatham Outreach Alliance (CORA) Food Pantry will relocate to the former Chatham County Mental Health office building at 73 Camp Drive in the Chatham County office complex on September 29th and begin serving clients from its new location on Monday, October 1st. Until that time, clients should continue to visit the existing CORA location on Camp Drive.

“Kits for Kids” campaign is a success
[Sep. 13, 2007] Due to the tremendous response from local businesses, churches and community members, this year’s “Kids for Kids” school supply drive was a big success. The drive, which was coordinated by the United Way of Chatham County, began on July 23 and collected over 300 backpacks, notebooks, binders, paper, pencils, crayons and other supplies.
 
Friends of Pittsboro Library reach $200,000 fundraising milestone

[Jul. 19, 2007] A former Superior Court judge will serve as counsel to Durham's committee investigating the Durham Police Department's role in the Duke lacrosse case. Wade Barber, 63, is a Pittsboro lawyer who served as the senior resident Superior Court Judge in Chatham and Orange counties from 1998 to 2006.

Jenna Davis of Siler City and Allison Welch of Mebane were the first to visit the lottery’s headquarters to collect their $1 million prizes following Wednesday’s drawing.
