Pittsboro, NC - Driving through some parts of Pittsboro and Chatham County can feel like you’re going through a windy maze. Now, Google has found a way to make moving through local streets in Chatham County a little fun, all with the help of a popular arcade game from the past.

Just in time for April Fool’s Day, the popular search engine rolled out a feature that lets you turn its maps tool into a Pac-Man game. Google added the option to convert its popular navigation service into the Pac-Man video game on Tuesday morning. The online app on Google Maps enables visitors to click on a Pac-Man symbol in the lower left of the screen to play the video game on whatever location is listed in the address bar. As has been happening for nearly 35 years, Pac-Man eats blinking dots while trying to elude four "ghosts" — Pinky, Blinky, Inky and Clyde.

To play, search for an address. Then click on the Pac-Man symbol in the bottom left of the map. Soon, you’ll see the familiar blue screen with blinking pac-dots along with ghosts and monsters.

We decided to test the game out on the area around the courthouse traffic circle in downtown Pittsboro. Let’s see how well you can move through the streets around the Chatham County courthouse: https://www.google.com/maps/@35.7203296,-79.1780091,18z/data=!1e3

The game can be played in Google Maps on desktop computers or mobile devices that have the latest app update for Apple's iOS or Google's Android software.

Unfortunately, Pac-Man can’t go everywhere in Chatham County. The game won’t work in areas without many roads
