Pittsboro, NC - Carnivore Preservation Trust (CPT) announced today that they have welcoming their newest rescued tiger. Vincent (formerly known as Tony) resided at a privately owned zoo in North Carolina that recently closed. CPT animal keepers moved Vincent from the zoo to CPT this morning. CPT Executive Director Pam Fulk said, "It will cost approximately $5,000 per year to care for Vincent. We'll be raising additional funds to support him for the rest of his life, as well as the other animals living at CPT.

Earlier this month, CPT staff transported Vincent from the closed private zoo to the North Carolina Zoo for quarantine. CPT's completion of their own quarantine facility suffered a recent delay. Just as CPT met their Rescue Tails Campaign goal of $85,000, they learned that the application of the epoxy coating for the concrete would require an additional $30,000. CPT continues to raise funds to complete the on-site quarantine so that rescues will be brought directly to CPT in the future.

Fulk said that preparations were made last week for Vincent's arrival. Rajaji tiger (formerly of the Triangle Metro Zoo in Wake Forest) has now been moved up onto the tour route, allowing Vincent tiger to be placed in the more remote, quieter enclosure while he adjusts to his new home.

Those interested in donating to the Carnivore Preservation Trust may do so online by visiting www.cptigers.org and clicking on "Donations" or by mailing their checks made payable to CPT to 1940 Hanks Chapel Rd., Pittsboro, NC 27312. As they make
their gift, donors can designate their gift to the "Rescue Tails Campaign" for quarantine, "Vincent" to support the new rescue, or leave their gift undesignated, to be used where CPT identifies the most urgent need.

Carnivore Preservation Trust is a non-profit located in Pittsboro, NC. The 55-acre wildlife sanctuary is home to 80 animals of 8 different species, including tigers, leopards, ocelots, and more. CPT provides rescue and sanctuary for certain species of carnivores, primarily in the cat family. CPT offers unique opportunities to learn about these animals and their importance to the quality of our life on Earth.
