Siler City, NC – National partners are donating homebuilding materials and labor to Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the country in support of the organization’s Home Builders Blitz, June 5-9.

Local and national partners are doing their part by donating funds, homebuilding materials and labor to Chatham Habitat. “We are grateful for the national partnerships. In addition, Chatham Habitat is well aware that an effort of this magnitude would not be possible without local support,” said Amy Powell, Executive Director for Chatham Habitat. “Local donations and support are making these homes a reality.”

During the weeklong event, 5 professional builders will construct homes from start to finish, housing 5 Chatham families in the Westmont Community in Siler City. Habitat for Humanity International estimates that more than 400 homes will be built across the country during the week. There are 11 North Carolina Habitat Affiliates participating in this weeklong event. Also participating in the Builders Blitz are Sanford Habitat, Durham Habitat, Wake Habitat, and Orange Habitat.

The project is the single largest building event in Chatham Habitat’s 16-year history. It also engages professional builders Brightleaf Development, BuildEx, Daniel Custom Homes, Major Group, and Pomarico Construction to make affordable housing available in their communities by donating time, building materials and subcontractor services to build homes in just one week.

On May 22nd, the Siler City Board Mayor, Charles Turner, signed a proclamation declaring June 5-9 as Chatham Habitat for Humanity Builders Blitz Week. The kickoff for the week will begin 7:30 AM on June 1 and the dedication of the homes will be June 9 at 5:00 PM at the building site.
