Pittsboro, NC - Chatham County’s Department of Social Services has received additional funding to help with heating costs for low-income residences with elderly or disabled individuals.
Social Services Director Sandy Coletta said that when the program started on Dec. 1, 2012, the department had more applicants than they had money to serve. “We still have limited funds available, but we want to help our elderly and disabled residents as much as possible.”
The benefit amount is either $200, $300, or $400 based on household income, number of occupants, and the heating source.
“The funds can be used to fill up heating oil tanks or to pay high home utility bills due to heating needs,” Coletta said.
Those interested in applying should call 919-542-2759 to get more information.
