Pittsboro, NC - The joint meeting of the Chatham County Board of Commissioners and the Planning Board on September 2, at 6 pm will be held at Central Carolina Community College in Pittsboro in the Multipurpose Room.

This meeting is a continuation of the meeting held on August 11 where both boards discussed the proposed Major Corridor Plan for the county. Members of the Major Corridor Task Force will also be participating in the meeting.

The meeting will involve summarizing the process leading up to the development of the plan and discussing what should be involved in implementing the proposed plan, including what county ordinances and regulations would need to be revised.

The Commissioners held a series of public meetings on the proposed plan in the Spring of 2008 and have worked with existing businesses in the area. This will be the second time that the county commissioners and the Planning Board will have a chance to meet jointly for an in-depth discussion on the proposed plan.

The meeting will also include discussion about setting an official public hearing date on proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, Zoning Map and the Land Conservation & Development Plan required to implement the Major Corridor Plan.
