[Jan. 5, 2006] The Chatham County Board of Commissioners agreed this week to try to balance the county's 2006-07 budget without raising taxes. The board voted last year to raise the tax rate by 4 cents per $100 of assessed property value, which allowed it to take on more debt without raising taxes in the near future.

[Jan. 3, 2006] With the new year, Chatham County residents can expect to receive their 2006 listing notices. The Chatham County Tax Office mailed annual listing notices to residents last week, according to Kim Horton, Tax Administrator. Taxpayers that have not received their notices by Friday (January 13) should contact the Tax Office for further listing instructions.
