Chatham plans new judicial facility[May 20, 2007] Chatham County has taken the first steps toward completion of a new Judicial Facility project in downtown Pittsboro. The Judicial Design Committee, in concert with Corley Redfoot Zack, Inc., has completed the master planning, programming and preliminary space planning design phases of the project. The architects have prepared a preliminary cost estimate based on the scope of work developed through that process.
Date set for public hearing on proposed development moratorium[May 7, 2007] At its meeting on May 7, the Chatham County Board of Commissioners voted to hold a public hearing on May 21 at 6 pm on a proposed temporary moratorium on certain types of residential development in the county. The location is slated for the Superior Courtroom in the Historic Courthouse in Pittsboro.

Chatham County names Dianne Reid Economic Development director[Apr. 30, 2007] Chatham County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) has announced the hiring of Dianne Reid as Executive Director. Reid begins her position in mid-June. Most recently, she supervised the Orange County Economic Development Department and spearheaded a wide range of development initiatives, including business assistance, tourism, arts promotion, employment education and training, and economic research and data collection.
Citizens invited to help make Pittsboro a more walkable town[Mar. 28, 2007] Would you like to make Pittsboro a more walkable town? An alliance of local, state and national civic and advocacy organizations, along with Pittsboro Mayor Randy Voller and Triangle J Council of Governments, invite area residents to participate in walking tours of Pittsboro on Friday, March 30.
Agencies to offer additional transportation services for senior citizens[Mar. 19, 2007] The Chatham County Council on Aging and Chatham Transit Network are partnering to offer additional transportation services to senior citizens in Chatham County. New routes are being established in various areas of the County that will offer a ride to Pittsboro or Siler City for shopping, errands and banking.

Pittsboro town manager responses to allegations[Feb. 21, 2007] Pittsboro Town Manager Sam Misenheimer released a statement Tuesday after allegations that he resisted arrest after a confrontation during a traffic stop: I plan to remain as the Town Manager for the Town of Pittsboro as this circumstance has no bearing on my job performance or ability to do the job. Unfortunately, I have had an anonymous stalker over the past two and a half years who continues to cause problems for me. The State Highway Patrol Office received an several anonymous calls indicating that my driver’s license has been suspended due to points on my license.
