Commissioners claim to want policy on prompt release of closed session minutes[Jun. 19, 2007] On Monday, June 18, the Chatham County Board of Commissioners asked County Attorney Kevin Whiteheart to draft a policy regarding the prompt release of closed session minutes. Monday’s meeting was the first commissioners meeting held since the News and Observer asked for the release of closed session minutes concerning the moratorium ordinance.
Reception to welcome the new President of the EDC[Jun. 18, 2007] The Chatham County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Board of Directors would like to invite you to a reception welcoming the new President of the EDC, Dianne Reid, to Chatham County on Tuesday, June 26th 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Central Carolina Community College multipurpose room in Pittsboro. Chatham's Green Building Task Force is ready to go[Jun. 18, 2007] The Green Building Task Force (GBTF) has been appointed by the Chatham County Board of Commissioners to review and advise the BOC on economically feasible and technically viable green building strategies for all new and renovated County owned facilities (including schools, libraries, etc.). The GBTF will also provide advice to the BOC to develop residential green guidelines to be used by the appropriate departments regarding proposed new residential developments.
Chatham Board of Commissioners moratorium minutes - 5/22/07[Jun. 5, 2007] The Board of Commissioners (“the Board”) of the County of Chatham, North Carolina, met in a recessed regular meeting in the Superior Courtroom, 1 Hillsboro Street, located in Pittsboro, North Carolina, at 6:30 PM on May 22, 2007.
Chatham imposes moratorium on development[Jun. 4, 2007] At its meeting on June 4, the Chatham County Board of Commissioners voted to unanimously to impose a temporary moratorium on certain types of residential development in the county. The proposed moratorium will be imposed for no more than 12 months and would apply to any new residential subdivisions containing more than 25 lots or units. The moratorium will not apply to commercial developments nor to any developments in Pittsboro, Siler City and Cary because these towns have their own land use jurisdictions.
Chatham considers funding a new Performing Arts Center[Jun. 4, 2007] Chatham County is considering funding a performing arts feasibility study to determine if there is there sufficient public interest and support for such a facility and what is the best location for the facility. Several organizations in Chatham County have expressed an interest in constructing a performing arts center and have proposed three different locations: on the grounds of the Chatham County Fair Association; on the campus of Central Carolina Community College; in downtown Pittsboro.
Chatham Board of Commissioners meeting minutes - 5/07/07[May 21, 2007] The Board of Commissioners (“the Board”) of the County of Chatham, North Carolina, met in the Agricultural Building Auditorium, 45 South Street, located in Pittsboro, North Carolina, at 9:00 AM on May 07, 2007.
Chatham plans new judicial facility[May 20, 2007] Chatham County has taken the first steps toward completion of a new Judicial Facility project in downtown Pittsboro. The Judicial Design Committee, in concert with Corley Redfoot Zack, Inc., has completed the master planning, programming and preliminary space planning design phases of the project. The architects have prepared a preliminary cost estimate based on the scope of work developed through that process.
