Tighter water restrictions begin today in Chatham[Sep. 24, 2007] Due to extreme drought conditions and its serious impact on water supplies, the Chatham County Utilities Department has announced that Stage 3 mandatory water restrictions take effect on Monday, Sept. 24, 2007. These “danger level” restrictions mean that nearly all uses of county water for lawns, grasses, groundcovers, landscaping, pools and car washes are banned until further notice.
Pittsboro names William Terry new town manager[Aug. 29, 2007] The Town of Pittsboro, NC announced the selection of William “Bill” Terry of Chapel Hill, NC as its new Town Manager. The Board of Commissioners selected Mr. Terry from a field of almost 40 candidates after a national search. Bill Terry graduated from Carleton College in 1970 with a degree in Government and International Relations and received a Master of Public Administration degree from NC. State University in 1998.
Chatham County mails tax bills this week[Aug. 14, 2007] Chatham County residents can expect to receive their 2007 county tax bills this week, according to Chatham County Listing Supervisor Tina Stone. The current tax rate is 0.617 cents per $100 valuation, up two cents from last year. One cent of the increase will go to open the new Virginia Cross Elementary School in Siler City and to fund increases in the local teachers supplement. One cent will go to fund the County’s capital improvements plan.

Chatham County provides easy access to tax records & bills[Aug. 8, 2007] Chatham County residents, businesses and other customers will find it much easier to look up and print tax bills as well as to access other important tax information, thanks to a new online access system in the Tax Office that premiered on August 7.
Final public forum slated on Chatham's economic development[Jul. 18, 2007] With four public forums already completed, the Chatham County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has slated one final community forum to receive input from residents on economic development. The forum will take place on Wednesday, July 18, 6:30-8 p.m. in Pittsboro, NC at Central Carolina Community College, Building #2, Multi-Purpose Room.
