Icy conditions impacting Chatham County services

Pittsboro, NC - Due to the icy conditions already impacting most of the area, Chatham County government announces that all non-essential services provide by the county are closing at noon today. Residents are advised to call the specific county office in advance first to make sure the office is open.

Other information:

COUNTY LIBRARIES: Chatham Community Library in Pittsboro and Wren Memorial Library in Siler City will delay reopening tomorrow until noon. Goldston Library will be closed on Saturday as usual.

PARKS & RECREATION: All county parks are closing at noon today. Youth basketball practice scheduled today is cancelled. On Saturday, all youth basketballs games slated for 9 am, 10 am, 11 am and 5 pm are cancelled. Also tomorrow, the noon basketball game at Silk Hope School is cancelled.

In the event that conditions resulting from the weather are more severe than expected, additional cancellations may be made. Call the Parks & Recreation Weather Hotline at (919) 545-8345 for any additional updates prior to departing for events.

SENIOR CENTERS: The Council on Aging reports that both senior centers (Pittsboro and Siler City) will close at 2 pm today.

ANIMAL SHELTER: The Health Department reports that the Animal Shelter west of Pittsboro is closed tomorrow.

CHATHAM TRANSIT: All transit services will stop by 3 pm today. They are in the process of helping various agency clients return home.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OFFICE: The Chatham Economic Development Corporation office in Pittsboro is also closing today at noon.
