The Chatham County's Sheriff's department nabbed one of Chatham County's most elusive suspects on Friday after an anonymous caller telephoned Chatham County Emergency Operations Center and advised them that Lester Wood was walking down Farrington Road in the North Chatham Area. Wood, 33 of 4605 Old US 1 Moncure was wanted in connection of two robberies that occurred in December in the Moncure area. Sheriff Webster and Lieutenant Mike Roberson were in the area and observed the subject and made the arrest without incident.

Chatham County Detective Percy Crutchfield had been looking for Wood for nearly 2 months after the robberies and it was believed that he was living in the Chapel Hill area.

The Moncure Health Center reported an attempted robbery on December 2nd by a single white male and the ABC Store in Moncure was robbed by a single white male with a knife on December 5th. Wood was incarcerated in the Chatham County Jail under a $100,000.00 secured bond.

This arrest comes on the heels of yet another arrest made on robbery subjects who attempted to rob the Fidelity Bank in Moncure with a knife but were captured in Durham a short time later.
