Pittsboro, NC - With the recent statewide reorganization of community mental health programs, Chatham County's commissioners must appoint three people to an advisory board that will serve Chatham, Orange and Person counties. The deadline to apply is August 3, 2012.

This three-county area is called the OPC (Orange-Person-Chatham) Community Operations Center and is part of a larger 15-county regional mental health authority called Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Solutions.

Chatham County's three advisory board appointments will include:

  • A county commissioner or the commissioners' designee;
  • Someone who receives public mental health services or a family member of someone who receives those services; and
  • An interested citizen or other stakeholder of the mental health system.
The new OPC Advisory Board will be responsible for:
  • Advising the executive director of the Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Solutions on the evaluation and hiring of the executive director for the OPC Community Operations Center;
  • Recommending budget priorities;
  • Determining local priorities for the mental health strategic plan;
  • Identifying community needs and concerns as well as monitoring resolution of those issues; and
  • Monitoring the local program's performance, including access to care, finances, service delivery, provider network, outcomes and customer satisfaction.
Anyone interested in serving on the new OPC Advisory Committee should submit a Chatham County committee application form no later than August 3, 2012.

An online form can be found here. You also may request a printed copy by contacting Lindsay Ray at 919-542-8200 or lindsay.ray@chathamnc.org
