Chatham County seeks two members for Recreation Advisory Committee

Pittsboro, NC - Chatham County has two upcoming vacancies on its Recreation Advisory Committee, which advises the Board of Commissioners and staff on recreation programs and the county’s recreation and park facilities. The Chatham County Board of Commissioners are expected to make the appointments in July.

The county encourages all interested individuals to apply, even if you do not live in or near one of the districts specified below. The goal is to provide geographic diversity.

One opening is for County Commissioner District 1 to fill the remainder of a term that would end June 30, 2016. This is in the far northeastern part of the county. This appointee would be eligible after the initial appointment to be reappointed to a full three-year term.

The second vacancy is for County Commissioner District 5 in the southwestern part of the county. This vacancy is for a full three-year term ending on June 30, 2017, with the option to be reappointed to a full three-year term after that.

The Recreation Advisory Committee typically meets six to eight times a year on the third Wednesday at 7 pm in Pittsboro.
