Pittsboro, NC - Chatham County Public Libraries need residents, including those who are not regular library users, to help them plan programs and services for the next three to five years. A survey is underway and public forums will be slated in January of 2014.

"We received a grant in this fiscal year to fund the planning process," said Linda Clarke, library director. "The first phase is to gather information on what people expect from their public library system and how well it is meeting those expectations."

An online survey to provide feedback is available through Nov. 30, 2013 here. Printed copies also are available at the three library branches in Pittsboro, Siler City and Goldston.

"We hope that people who are not regular patrons will take the time to let us know what keeps them from using our services," Clarke said. "We are always looking for new options to engage residents in our libraries."

The library system will announce the dates and locations of the public forums in the next few weeks.

To help pay for the planning process, the library system received a grant for 2013-14 made possible through funding from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, which is administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources.
