Pittsboro, NC - All Chatham County Public Libraries, located in Siler City, Pittsboro and Goldston, will be closed on Tuesday, June 28, due to an equipment upgrade. The branches also will have revised or reduced operating hours as of July 1.

As part of Chatham County’s efforts to reduce its operating budget, the library branches revised operating hours, with a focus on closing a few hours a week during less busy periods. As of July 1, the new operating hours for each branch are:

WREN MEMORIAL (Siler City) - Only change is reduced hours on Saturdays.

Mondays: Noon – 8 pm

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays: 10 am – 6 pm

Saturdays: 10 am – 2pm

CHATHAM COMMUNITY LIBRARY (Pittsboro) - Adjusted or reduced hours several days a week.

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 9 am – 6 pm

Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9 am – 8 pm

Saturdays: 10 am – 2 pm

GOLDSTON LIBRARY - Only change is closure on Saturdays; was already closed on Tuesdays.

Mondays and Wednesdays: 10 am - 1 pm; 2 pm to 6pm

Tuesdays: closed

Thursdays: 10 am -1 pm; 2pm - 8 pm

Fridays: 10 am – 1 pm; 2 pm – 5 pm

Saturdays: closed

“We recognize that the revised hours of operation will affect some of our patrons,” said Linda Clarke, director of the Public Libraries. “However, we had to do our part in reducing overall county expenses. We still offer hours after 6 pm at all branches. We may make adjustments down the road as needed, based on experience and feedback from patrons.”
