Pittsboro, NC - During the month of November, Chatham County’s Waste Management department will conduct needed maintenance, repairs and upgrades at all twelve collection centers, with minimal interruption to service.

Each Swap Shop will be closed for two to three days throughout the process for preparation and painting. Residents will have the option of using another collection center if their usual Swap Shop is closed.

The interior of all Swap Shops will get a fresh coat of paint and sturdy shelving. Brochure racks and information boards will be relocated inside the Swap Shops so county staff can continue to communicate relevant waste reduction and recycling information. Residents can also post notices for things like yard sales, compost workshops, and ads for wanted or available items.

Signage around the centers is under review and will be replaced as needed. Containers are also being painted, repaired, or replaced. Staff is assessing exterior repairs needed for all buildings at the collection centers and will include those in next year’s budget.

For additional information, contact Chatham County Waste Management at (919) 542-5516.
