6. Animal cruelty investigation
7. Dangerous/vicious dog control
8. Animal disaster management

The animal shelter offers:

1. Acceptance of all animals. We are an "open door" shelter.
2. Hours open to the public: Noon to Five, Mondays through Friday, Ten to Two on Saturdays
3. A successful adoption and rescue program that requires all adopted dogs/cats be spayed or neutered
4. A volunteer program
5. An humane euthanasia program
6. An animal care program supervised by a veterinarian
7. Information and referrals re domestic and wild animals issues

Animal Control is advised by the Animal Control Advisory Committee and governed by the Board of Health. Changes in the Animal Control Ordinance and the annual budget require approval by the Board of County Commissioners.

The Advisory Committee first met in November and now meets every one or two months. I will be posting meeting notices on the Chatlist as well as in the Chatham News/Record. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.
