2007-2008 Fiscal Year Proposed Chatham County Budget

Charlie Horne, County Manager, and Renee Paschal, Assistant County Manager, gave a presentation on the proposed FY 2007-2008 Chatham County Budget.

Public Comments:

The Chairman opened the floor for public comments.

Louise Adcock, 116 White Oak Drive, Siler City, NC, stated that she was a senior citizen who doesn’t have school children; that she wasn’t in favor of the tax increase; that she would like for the Commissioners to look at tightening the belts to reduce expenditures; and that she would like future meetings to be changed to 7:00 PM. Ms. Adcock asked that the County consider a minimum housing code to restrict the number of families that can live in a residence and that meetings be better publicized

Karl Ernst, 711 Red Oak Drive, Siler City, NC, stated that he asked last year that fund balance be used for one-cent tax reduction. He suggested that this be done in the future if the fund balance is above the recommended amount. He commented that the Board should be as judicious as they can about what they take from citizens.

The Chairman closed the public meeting and thanked everyone for attending.

ADJOURNMENT

Commissioner Vanderbeck moved, seconded by Commissioner Lucier, to adjourn the Budget Work Session. The motion carried five (5) to zero (0), and the meeting was adjourned at 7:00 PM.
