Woods Charter School seeks new Head of School

Chapel Hill, NC - Woods Charter School is seeking a dynamic, innovative, skillful, and resourceful educator to serve as Head of School, beginning July 1, 2013. The Search Committee of the WCS School Board begins accepting applications on Friday, January 18, 2013. Candidates with a serious interest in this position should submit materials on or before Friday, February 15, 2013 at 5:00 pm.

In late February, candidates will be selected for Round One interviews by telephone or Skype. Subsequently, Round Two on-campus interviews will be scheduled with selected finalists.

A final selection will be made when the committee has made a recommendation to the full Board, and the Board has decided to extend an offer. It is our hope that this might occur as early as our March 21, 2013 regular Board meeting.

While Woods Charter School will welcome requests for additional information from finalists, the school's staffing limitations will not permit telephone questions and inquiries from applicants.

The successful finalist candidate will have submitted the following:

• up-to-date contact information, including FULL NAME, mailing address, email address, and telephone number;
• cover letter which reflects the candidate's knowledge of how her/his background serves as preparation for this position as described in the Job Description;
• a resume;
• a statement of educational philosophy and leadership style;
• a list of at least three references, preferably people who have supervised the candidate's work in the past, with up-to-date contact information. (Names and contact information only are acceptable for Round One.)
• official transcripts of all pertinent academic work. (Copies are acceptable for Round One.)
