Siler City, NC - On Friday, March 2, Tony Tysinger, the Assistant Manager of the Siler City Walmart, brought checks to several schools in Chatham County as part of Walmart's Community Grants program.

“This is Walmart's way of giving back to the local community. We donate almost $50,000 each year to organizations in Chatham County like the schools, Relay for Life and the Scouts,” said Tysinger.

Elementary School received a check for $500. Chatham Middle School and Siler City Elementary School each received a check for $1,000. The Culinary Arts Department at Chatham Central High School received a $790 check that was a matching grant for a fundraiser. Walmart has given funding to other schools in Chatham County Schools during this and other school years.
