Vandiver named principal of Virginia Cross Elementary

Pittsboro, NC - The Chatham County Board of Education named Dr. Julie Vandiver principal of Virginia Cross Elementary School on Monday evening, February 12. Her starting date is March 1. Virginia Cross Elementary is a new school being built in Siler City, NC.

Vandiver holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, a Master of Physical Education in Sports Administration, a Master of School Administration, a Level II Principal/Superintendent Licensure, and Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership, all earned from UNC Greensboro.

From 1984 until 2003, Vandiver worked in Guilford County Schools as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal. Her teaching experience was in high school and elementary school while her administrative experience was in the elementary grades. Vandiver became Principal of Bluford Communications Magnet Elementary School in Greensboro in 2002 and has worked in Wake County Schools since 2003, the year she was named Principal of Dillard Drive Elementary School in Raleigh. Vandiver also serves as an adjunct professor at UNC Chapel Hill, where she supervises graduate students in the Master's of School Administration program.
