Pittsboro, NC - At the Board of Education meeting Monday evening, two interim principals were named to Chatham County Schools. Lisa Norwood was named interim for Horton Middle School and David Moody was named for Siler City Elementary.
Norwood is a Pittsboro resident who has held positions in Chapel Hill and NC Central. She retired in 2003 from Connecticut public schools, where she served as middle school principal for 15 years. She is temporarily taking the place of Mattie Smith.
Moody retired from Chatham County Schools as the Assistant Superintendent of Auxiliary Services in 2013. He previously served as Director of Secondary Education and Principal of Jordan-Matthews High School. Dr. Larry Savage has been named principal of Siler City Elementary and will begin in early September.
Superintendent Dr. Derrick D. Jordan remarks, “"I am thrilled to have found two such quality educators to lead our schools temporarily. Mr. Moody has been a huge part of Chatham County Schools and will, no doubt, shepherd Siler City Elementary effectively during this short transition time."
