Raleigh, NC - During the eighty-third state FFA convention held in Raleigh June 21-23, students from the Chatham Central FFA chapter excelled in career development events.

Here is how the Chatham Central teams placed:
• Nursery/Landscape team: First
• Floriculture team: First (High scoring individual: John Bartee)
• Agricultural Tools and Materials ID team: First (Top scoring individuals: David Ellis and Matt Brooks)
• Prepared Public Speaking: Second place, competitor: Kaylyn Groce
• Forestry team: Seventh

Two of the first place teams, floriculture and nursery/landscape, will compete at the National FFA Convention to be held October 19-22 in Indianapolis, Indiana. There is not a tool team competition at the national level, only the state level.

"To have any individual or team place first in a highly competitive state FFA career development event is an accomplishment; to have three teams place first and our students place in the top ten of two other events is outstanding. Our students and Mr. Hart have reaped the rewards of dedication and hard work. We are extremely proud of their accomplishments and look forward to cheering them on in the national competition," said Principal Mitch Stensland.
