Silk Hope student earns third place in State Science and Engineering Fair

Silk Hope, NC - Brianna de la Houssaye, a seventh grader at Silk Hope School, placed third in the NC Science and Engineering Fair (NCSEF) Junior Biological Science A competition that took place on Saturday, March 26, at Meredith College in Raleigh.

De la Houssaye's project was entitled "Why Are My Chickens That Color?" and was the Overall 6-8 Division Winner and and Overall Winner in the 2011 Chatham County Science Fair held in early February. On February 23, her project placed first at the regional level in the Middle School Biology A competition category, which allowed her to compete at the state level.

"We are really proud of all Brianna's effort and energy and how well she represented Silk Hope School. She also had a lot of support from her science teacher, Andra Burke. She put a over a year's worth of work into this project, and it paid off for her," said Chad Morgan, Principal of Silk Hope School.
