Silk Hope, NC - The Student Council of Silk Hope School sponsored a schoolwide pajama drive from February 20-March 9. A total of 208 pairs of pajamas were donated. The pajamas will be given to triangle area group homes, foster homes and needy families.

Guidance counselor Michelle Dennis was inspired to help Silk Hope students sponsor a pajama drive after seeing a national pajama drive program featured on The View.

“Character Education is a very important part of the school experience. Service learning projects like this can really get students excited about helping out their community,” said Dennis.

The class with the most pajama donations won the right to wear their pajamas to school on a day that they had a cookies and ice cream party and the honor of being read to by school administrators, Principal Janice Frazier and Assistant Principal Thad Urban. The second graders in Mrs. Reese's class donated fifty-five pairs of pajamas and earned the reward.
