Silk hope, NC - Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders at Silk Hope School had a day filled with career exploration on Friday, March 14.

Eric Watson, a reporter with NBC 17 who covers Chatham County, was the keynote speaker as the day kicked off in the school multipurpose room. He talked about the necessity of sacrifice to achieve goals and encouraged the students to begin challenging themselves early in order to be successful. He also fielded questions about aspects of his job.

Students then rotated between classrooms where guests shared career information and answered questions. The career studies were divided into fifteen minute slots. Career fields included sales, engineering, construction, interior design, communications, law enforcement, military, child care, education, medical, and science.

The event was organized by teacher YoLonda Moody and guidance counselor Michelle Brick.
