Silk Hope school hosts career day

Silk Hope, NC - Middle school students at Silk Hope school learned about a wide range of careers and vocations on Friday, March 10, during a career day event. There were nine rotations of speakers that the students visited with in thirty-minute segments. Participating professionals were from the school community and area businesses.

Featured careers included a television reporter, nursing, national guard, wildlife enforcement officer, dentistry, ministry, cosmetology, employment counselor. lawyer, landscape manager, Rice Toyota general manger, lineman for Progress Energy, auctioneer, forestry agent, automotive technician, and a licensed plumber.

At the end of the day, the career day organizers, Yolanda Moody, a teacher, and Michelle Dennis, the guidance counselor, noted how smoothly and successfully the day had gone. This is the first career day in many years at Silk Hope.
