As the students and staff of the fifteen campuses in Chatham County Schools prepare for the first student day on Monday, August 9, the school system will welcome several new individuals to school leadership positions.

Carrie Little replaces Gary Yoder as Principal of North Chatham School. Yoder transferred to J.S. Waters School in Goldston upon the retirement of long-time county principal Buddy Harris on June 30. Little comes to Chatham County Schools from Wake County Schools where she completed an internship at Davis Drive Middle School this past spring.

Anne Beal is the new Principal of Moncure School. Teresa Davis, her predecessor, left the school to pursue a doctorate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill at the end of the 2003-2004 school year. Beal served as Assistant Principal of Tramway Elementary School prior to accepting the Moncure position.

Sam Greene will serve as Interim Principal at Northwood High School beginning August 5. During his career in Wake County Schools, Greene was an assistant principal at the high school level and also served as principal of West Millbrook Middle School. Since his retirement within the past three years, he has done interim work in Wake and Vance counties.

A committee comprised of school district administrators, Northwood teachers, and Northwood parents is continuing to interview candidates for the Northwood principalship. Dr. David Bryant, Director of Secondary Education, explained that having an Interim Principal will give the school district the necessary time to expand its applicant pool for the permanent position. The system is conducting a nationwide search for a new principal. Mike Trifaro, Principal of Northwood for the past three years, passed away in June. Bryant and Mabe have worked closely with Northwood Assistant Principals and other staff throughout the summer in preparation for the return of students and staff.

Siler City Elementary School Principal Randy Johnson has announced his retirement. Angie Brady-Andrew, who has been the Assistant Principal at the school, will serve as Interim Principal. Johnson commented, “It’s been a good twenty-five years in education and I look forward to the rest of the years to come.” Johnson is volunteering at the school temporarily to assist Brady-Andrew and the staff in final preparations for students to return on August 9.
