Pittsboro, NC - The Chatham County Association of Educational Office Professionals (CCAEOP) held a blood drive at Horton Middle School on Thursday, June 14. Twenty people presented to donate. Of these twenty, six were first time donors. There were seventeen units of blood collected through the American Red Cross.

The Association of Educational Office Professionals (EOP) is an organization comprised of individuals with clerical type positions that vow to be true professionals. These individuals strive to help their communities by sponsoring events such as blood drives and winter coat drives. The National Association of Educational Office Professionals (NAEOP) dates back to 1934 and provides opportunities for professional growth, leadership, and services for employees in the field of education.

The Chatham County EOP awards a scholarship to a Chatham County high school senior every year. The 2006 recipient was Jayme Adams of Chatham Central High School. Approximately thirty employees of Chatham County Schools are members of the local organization.

On May 18 the CCAEOP began a new year by electing new officers. They are: President Alison Farrish, Vice President Hazellean Scott, Secretary Kristen Case, and Treasurer Kriste Smith. These individuals will be officers for the 2006-2007 year.
