Pittsboro, NC - The principals of North Chatham School and Northwood High School will be moving into different positions in the upcoming school year. The changes will take place as soon as individuals are chosen to take their places.

Mattie Smith will transfer from North Chatham School to Horton Middle School. The vacancy at Horton occurred when Mervin Jenkins left at the end of May to take a job in Atlanta.

“Mattie brings a unique understanding of historical perspective as both her parents taught at Horton and she is a former Horton student. I believe she will build on these foundations as she works with the students, families, staff, Horton Alumni Association, and community to continue strengthening Horton,” said Superintendent Robert Logan.

Carrie Little will move from the principalship at Northwood to become a special assistant to the superintendent.

“Carrie will be an additional resource to assist with parental concerns, student transfers, and student matters. She will work closely with our Student Services Department,” explained Logan.
