Siler City, NC - During the July 30 Board of Education meeting, Dr. Lawrence Savage was approved as the new principal of Siler City Elementary School. Dr. Savage was selected from over 20 applicants for the position. He holds a master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), and he served as an ESL teacher for 13 years.
Dr. Savage has also held central office leadership positions supporting ESL and mainstream teachers. Upon completion of his doctoral degree in 2012, Dr. Savage sought a school-level administrative position in order to work more directly with students again--his true passion.
Dr. Savage's administrative work at the school and district level coupled with his extensive experience with language learners and his knowledge of dual language programming in particular will serve him well as he partners with teachers, staff, parents, and community stakeholders at SCE to push students to new heights.
I have the utmost confidence that SCE will have in Dr. Savage and Mrs. Murray another phenomenal administrative TEAM! Together, they will ensure that the school continues to be a great place to work and learn.
A transition timeline and details about a time to meet Dr. Savage will be forthcoming.
