Siler City, NC - SAGE Academy won third place for its float in the annual Siler City Christmas parade held Thursday, December 5. The Chatham County Chamber of Commerce organizes the event each year.

“Our students really let their lights shine on this project, kids put tons of creative energy and hard work into the float. The idea for our float brought together three different concepts: the town's theme, "The Wonder of Christmas Morning," our own theme, "BE the Gift of Christmas," to show that the heart of Christmas is about peace, love, trust, honor and joy, not material things, and a student's idea to incorporate Santa's elves. The end result was that the SAGE float showed our elves rising on a bright, sunny Christmas morning and unpacking their true gifts, their heart qualities. We wanted to encourage everyone watching to recognize and nurture those qualities in themselves and to let their own lights shine brightly. Our guitar club serenaded onlookers with Jingle Bells, Rudolph and Feliz Navidad...everyone was smiling and singing along, those on our float and those we passed on the parade route,” described Jennifer Saylor, school counselor.
