Siler City, NC - SAGE Academy is once again rewarding students who consistently excel in the areas of academics, attendance, and attitude. The program is aligned with the school’s goals and expectations for students: raising the bar, being a star, and going “F.A.R.” (focused, accountable and respectful).

The specific criteria are as follows and will be measured per month:

1) ACADEMICS – students show improvement in grades for each class or maintain at least a B;

2) ATTENDANCE – students are in attendance at least 95% of the time;

3) ATTITUDE – students receive no discipline referrals to the office.

Students achieving success in all three areas will be treated to an off-campus lunch at a local restaurant. Each time students receive a monthly recognition, their names will be entered into a final drawing in June for gift cards in the following amounts: $100, $75, $75, $50, $50, $50, $25, $25, $25 and $25.

Teachers will also be asked to additionally select one student who has been their hardest and most cooperative learner. These students, regardless of their monthly status, will also qualify for the off campus lunch and likewise have their names placed into the final drawing.

Last year’s “Triple A” winners for May were treated to lunch on Friday, August 29, 2008 at Elizabeth’s in Siler City, and then went to PC's Cool Place for dessert. The students once again rode in style in a Chevrolet Suburban provided by Chatham Motors. Accompanying students were SAGE Principal Daniel Haithcox and teacher Robert Templin.

As Principal Daniel Haithcox noted, “We wanted to make sure that they were given the lunch they had earned last year. Due to exams and the end of the year, we were unable to do it then. Plus, it also served as a preview for our new students to see what the program is like. The winning students who were able to join us (Kyle Brown, Mike Byrd, Alex Gregory, Chris Moore, and Donovan Woods) were very excited and had a great time, as did I. We look forward to the time when we can treat every single student. Nothing would make me happier, knowing that they had all worked hard and earned it.”

The “Triple A” award program is sponsored by the SAGE PTSA and Jo Ann Beal, owner of Chatham Motors.
