Siler City, NC - The SAGE Academy library media center has been awarded a $2,000 grant to purchase books for the school library. The funds will be used to purchase books chosen by both students and faculty. These books will be used to support curriculum goals, to promote reading for pleasure throughout the student body, and to supplement the library collection.

"I'm very excited to be looking through a book catalog. My eye is on Evermore, a book from one of Allison Noel's The Immortals Series," said student Jasmine Dominguez.

SAGE Media Coordinator Nonya Brown-Chesney submitted the application to the Lois Lenski Covey Foundation in June and was notified by mail on November 18 that SAGE was a grant recipient.

"Mrs. Brown-Chesney is such an asset to SAGE Academy and we are so grateful for her efforts in seeking out opportunities and resources that benefit SAGE. I am so excited about this wonderful opportunity for our students to choose books that otherwise might not be available to them. We would like to thank the Lenski Covey Foundation for this additional resource," said Principal Kim Taylor.

The Lois Lenski Covey Foundation, Inc. is a charitable foundation formed by Newberry medal winning author Lois Lenski that provides grants to public libraries, school libraries and non- profit agencies. Grants for 2010 ranged from $500 to $3,000 and are solely for the purchase of children's books.
