Siler City, NC - Chris Reyes, a senior at Jordan-Matthews High School, has received an appointment to the United States Naval Academy. He was nominated by Congressman Bob Etheridge. Reyes' acceptance of the appointment will lead him down a path of preparation for a career as a professional Navy or Marine Corp officer.

“This has been Chris' goal since he entered Jordan-Matthews. I couldn't be happier to see a student set high goals and attain them. Chris is one of those students who has done his work academically and physically to be prepared for the rigors of the U.S. Naval Academy. He has also attended the Academy's summer program. The campus at Annapolis is the most beautiful campus that I have ever seen,” noted David Moody, Principal of Jordan-Matthews.

Reyes is a member of the Jordan-Matthews quiz bowl team, is a member of the Beta Club, plays on the baseball team, and has run cross country. In the fall he was honored by the College Board's National Hispanic Recognition Program for exceptional academic achievement.

Reyes is the son of Angela and Rosali Reyes of Siler City.
