Pittsboro, NC - On the morning of Friday, March 20, Perry Harrison School created its chapter of the Junior National Honor Society by inducting its first members, seventeen seventh graders and twenty-four eighth graders. The ceremony was held in the school gym with many family members in attendance.

Teacher Margaret Lowry began the ceremony with a call to order. Principal Valgean Mitchell welcomed the inductees and guests and Clark Streets, an eighth grader, led the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance. Three Harrison staff members, Adrienne Berg, Sonia Logan, and Jeanett Atwater Mitchell, explained the Society principles of scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Assistant Principal Brayton Leonhardt announced the names of the inductees, who were then congratulated by Mitchell as she presented each student with a certificate. Mitchell then led the inductees in the Junior National Honor Society pledge.
Superintendent Robert Logan gave congratulatory remarks at the end of the ceremony, which was followed by a reception.
