Pittsboro, NC - The eighth grade at Perry Harrison School spent Dec. 3-5 in the Washington, D.C. area. The itinerary included a visit to Mount Vernon, the National Archives, the Capitol, the Washington Monument, Arlington Cemetery, lighting of the national Christmas tree, and various other monuments and museums.
“The trip was a great success - the students represented Chatham County and Perry Harrison School in an exemplary manner. It is a highlight of the year to see the excitement of each student as they visit the sites and learn more about our nation's history," said Dawn Streets, an eighth grade social studies teacher,
Not only is the trip a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the students, it provided a springboard for many of the social studies and language arts NC Standard Course of Study objectives throughout the year.
