Pittsboro, NC - On Friday, February 16, Jeanett Currin's fifth grade class at Perry Harrison School participated in a unique competition involving Legos and the Durham Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). The competition, called “Block Kids,” is a national building competition sponsored by NAWIC and is open to elementary students in grades one through six.

Students were given a pack of 100 blocks and a forty minute time period to build anything that related to the construction industry. An outside panel of judges examined the work and the winners were: Third Place - Rob Hamlet, Second Place - Wes Meyer, and First Place - Hannah Holloway. All students were treated to a plastic hardhat, safety goggles and a construction apron. They also received many other goodies from the NAWIC Chapter.

Holloway will advance to the regional competition held in Raleigh.
