Pittsboro, NC - The Northwood High School quiz bowl team won the State Runner-Up trophy, placing second in the State Quiz Bowl competition which took place at the studios of UNC-TV on Saturday, April 22.
In a tight final round against Wilmington's J.T. Hoggard High School, Northwood lost by five points, with a final score of 135-130. The Northwood team played a total of three rounds and accumulated the most points in the competition.
Northwood's team had a consistently high performing season at the district, regional, and state levels. The team was praised for its outstanding performance at all levels by the opposing teams.
"Northwood's team plans to continue it's trend of success in the years to come," said Bhuvana Ramachandran, Northwood media coordinator and one of the team advisors.
