Pittsboro, NC - For the third consecutive year, Northwood High School has won the Chatham County High School Quiz Bowl event. On Monday evening, January 23, teams from each of the three county high schools competed during the competition in the multipurpose room of Central Carolina Community College in Pittsboro. The Chatham County Public Libraries sponsored the high school quiz bowl.

“High School Quiz Bowl, now in its twenty-second year, has been a venue for students to demonstrate their global knowledge. It allows the three high schools in our county to participate in a healthy academic competition,” said Mary Lee Moore, Director of Federal Programs, English Language Learners Program, and Library/Media in Chatham County Schools.

Question topics ranged from science to government, mythology to literature, history to the arts, and facts and current events about North Carolina. In matches with rounds of ten, twenty and thirty points, the teams of four players vied for the correct answers.

The winning Northwood team now advances to the district contest that will be held on Saturday, March 25.
