The Northwood High School Competition Cheerleading Squad recently participated in the World Spirit Federation National Championship in Greensboro, NC. The competition took place on Jan 15 and 16.

Competitions like the WSF Nationals give students the opportunity to showcase their skills and often times college coaches are in attendance recruiting members to try out for collegiate squads. The Northwood Competition Squad has several members already talking with and being recruited by collegiate coaches to cheer at the college level. At the competition, the team perfomed once each day and was scored by a panel of judges on their skills in tumbling, stunting, dance performance, and cheer performance.

On Sunday, January 16, during the 11:00 AM awards ceremony, the Northwood Competition Cheerleading squad was declared National Champions. They were awarded a National Championship Banner and Trophy.

There are 24 cheerleaders on the competition cheerleading squad. The squad is made up of 20 girls, and 4 boys. A majority of the squad are also members of the Varsity Cheerleading squad while others are a part of the JV Cheerleading squad.
