Pittsboro, NC - From March 16-23 North Chatham School is sponsoring a World’s Fair to celebrate cultural awareness week. A wide variety of activities that expose students in kindergarten through eighth grade to international cultures will occur throughout the week. The pre-school students at the school will also be able to participate in several of the events.

Individual classes have chosen specific countries from all of the world to study. A large world map is located in a main hallway where the students will put a sticker on the country of their origin. There will be a talent show on Friday afternoon. On Monday, March 23, guest artist Beverly Botsford and Drums Alive! will perform African and Latin American music.

Each student has a "passport" that he/she takes to each cultural exchange attended. The passports are stamped and there is room for writing about what they have seen.

School and community members are sharing their experiences from multiple countries including Netherlands, Scotland, France, Uruguay, India, Italy, Columbia, Pakistan, Philippines, Zimbabwe, and China.

The cafeteria staff is taking part in the schoolwide celebration by having international lunch menus: Monday – West Africa; Tuesday – Mexico; Wednesday – Italy; Thursday – Greece; Friday – China.
