Goldston, NC - The JS Waters' Lady Cubs had an impressive 2005-2006 basketball season with lots of team spirit and school/community support. Even though there is no official championship among Chatham County Middle Schools, a 13-1 record certainly places the Lady Cubs at the top.

These twelve ladies are not only outstanding athletes, but they each exemplify characteristics of the model student. Nine of the twelve players are Beta members, along with three of the four managers. All of the eighth graders tutor first and second graders every week. Their hard work and determination has really shown this year.

Coach Lynda Burke stated, "They never gave up. They are a group of girls who know what TEAM means. Everyone knew they had to work together to get the wins they earned. This is the most dedicated team I've ever coached." School spirit ran high this basketball season with the excitement over the girls' 13-1 season and a 9-5 season for the boys.

"Both girls' and boys' teams generated tremendous school and community enthusiasm this season and made J. S. Waters very proud of their exceptional records," said Principal Gary Yoder.
