Minutes from the February 11, 2008 Board of Education meeting[Feb. 27, 2008] The Chatham County Board of Education met for a regular session on Monday, February 11, 2008 in the Central Office Board Room at 7:45 p.m. Members present were Chairwoman Kathie Russell; Vice-Chairman Norman Clark; and members Deb McManus; Holly Duncan; and Gerald Totten. Dr. David Bryant, Superintendent Interim; Ken Soo, Board Attorney; and Elisabeth Rogers, Board Assistant were also present.
Scholarships available for CCCC students[Feb. 27, 2008] The Central Carolina Community College Foundation has more than 100 scholarships available for students who are registering for or currently enrolled in curriculum classes at the college’s campuses in Chatham, Lee, or Harnett counties.

Legislators hear CCCC’s needs[Feb. 26, 2008] North Carolina community colleges, including Central Carolina Community College, are doing more with less, according to Dr. Matt Garrett, CCCC president.

February designated as Career-Technical Education Awareness Month[Feb. 22, 2008] Chatham County young people get their start each year in exciting and rewarding careers through secondary Career-Technical Education (CTE) courses. Whether students plan to further their education in community colleges, technical schools, or four-year colleges and universities, receive on-the-job training, or pursue careers in the military, secondary Career-Technical Education can be the first step in a pathway toward productive employment and citizenship.
Guest speakers supplement Harrison curriculum[Feb. 22, 2008] Several recent guest speakers at Perry Harrison School have shared experiences with seventh and eighth grade social studies students. "Guest speakers provide a valuable opportunity to engage students. Students are exposed to interesting adults who have valuable lessons to share and who serve as role models in our community,” said Dawn Streets, a seventh and eighth grade social studies teacher at Harrison.
Project Child Find underway[Feb. 22, 2008] An effort called Project Child Find is underway in the Chatham County Schools to identify children and youth ages 3-21 who have disabilities and require special education and other related services. The Chatham County Schools Project Child Find will be held from March 10 through March 21, 2008.

National FFA officer to visit Chatham Central[Feb. 20, 2008] Chatham Central High School FFA chapter is among many across the nation that will celebrate National FFA Week Feb. 16-23, 2008. On Friday, February 22, an officer from the Southern Region National FFA, Brady Revels, will be a guest in the Chatham Central Horticulture Department.
February 11th Board of Education Meeting Summary[Feb. 20, 2008] The Chatham County Board of Education held a meeting on Monday, February 11, 2008, in the central office boardroom.
Board members will discuss and develop a schedule to attend planning board meetings
January 28th Board of Education Meeting Summary[Feb. 7, 2008] The Chatham County Board of Education held a meeting on Monday, January 28, 2008, at Chatham Middle School. Vice-Chairman Norman Clark led a discussion about making playground funding part of building new elementary schools and finished fields as part of building new middle schools. The Board voted to begin the process of amending its policy that had not previously included these.
