Pittsboro, NC - Horton Middle School will pause on Friday, September 9, to remember the tenth anniversary of September 11th and honor the victims, families, and heroes of that day. The staff and students will connect with what tragedy can do to individuals and a nation with a focus on how lucky and proud we are to be Americans.

Students will receive a flag sticker to show his or her American pride. Each teacher will share a personal story… “Where were you when everything changed on 9-11-01?” Horton staff will bring history into focus and lead students to make personal connections to our nations past.

The eighth grade team, led by teachers Ellen Hadley, Renisha Spell, Phylisha Sanders and Jamie Callicutt, has planned a special event in the multi-purpose room with video clips and discussions.

The school will honor the service men and women, police, fire and rescue workers who continue to protect and serve the citizens of our communities and nation.
