Haithcox named SAGE Academy principal

Siler city, NC - Daniel Haithcox, former Assistant Principal of Horton Middle School, has been selected as the Principal of SAGE Academy. SAGE is the district's alternative high school and is located in Siler City.

“Daniel is a capable administrator who has earned the respect of his colleagues for his strong work ethic, consistency, and excellent leadership skills. His middle school specialty will be an asset to our students who may face challenges transitioning from middle school to high school,” said Dr. Ann Hart, Superintendent.

Haithcox served at Horton for two years and had taken a position in Moore County Schools over the summer. Haithcox is originally from Staley and graduated from Eastern Randolph High School. He attended Elon University where he was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. Haithcox began his career in the Scotland County school system as an eighth grade North Carolina history teacher. After six years of teaching, he concluded a yearlong administrative internship in Scotland County as a NC Principal Fellow.

"I feel quite fortunate in many ways. I am first very happy to be back with Chatham County Schools, and I am especially delighted to be at SAGE Academy. Throughout my life, whether as first a student and then as a teacher and an assistant principal, I've been blessed with wonderful mentors who have guided and molded me into the person and educational leader that I am now. I look forward to the chance of having similar influences while here at SAGE. This opportunity is a tremendous and an exciting one to say the very least, and I indeed expect great things to continue here," commented Haithcox.

Justin Bartholomew joined the Horton Middle School staff as Assistant Principal.
